Arrested in December and indicted this week, Herman Robinson is accused of rape and murder involving a girl that began when she was 11 in 2006, according to the Schenectady County District Attorney’s Office. Robinson was formally indicted Wednesday, March 5, in Schenectady County Court and will be arraigned Monday, March 10.
Investigators say Robinson, who turned 38 on Feb. 25, began raping a girl when she was 11 in 2006. In 2010, when she was 15, police say Robinson delivered the baby he fathered and then killed the infant girl and disposed of her body.
Robinson used to live at 1748 Lenox Rd. in Schenectady and was indicted on charges of Murder (2nd Degree), Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child (1st Degree), two counts of Rape (1st Degree), Criminal Sexual Assault (1st Degree), Rape (2nd Degree) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Back on December 13, 2013, Robinson was arrested and initially charged with three Sexual Assault offenses, authorities said. The murder charge and additional sexual assault charges came after a deeper investigation by Schenectady Police and the Special Victims’ Unit of the District Attorney’s Office.
Robinson is accused of engaging in various acts of sexual conduct with a child from the time the child was 11 years old until she was 18, investigators said. In June 2009, Robinson got the girl pregnant and the baby girl was born March 2010. When she was delivered, Robinson killed the baby and then disposed of her body, authorities said, adding that at the time only Robinson and the victim were aware of the ongoing sexual activity, pregnancy and birth.
Authorities say the victim was not a stranger and was known to Robinson. Right now, she is reportedly in a safe location, police said.
