Colonie H.S. Basketball Coach Charged

The coach of the boys' basketball team at South Colonie High School is on administrative leave after he was arrested on a charge of cocaine possession.

James Boland, 55, who has worked in the district since 1996, was arrested off-campus Thursday night by Albany Police. Boland is also a social studies teacher. The district posted a statement on its website.

Police say Boland was pulled over at 8:36 p.m. Thursday on the 200-block of North Pearl Street for a traffic violation when crack cocaine was discovered.
