NY Education Commissioner considers ending some standardized tests

State Education Commissioner John King is telling superintendents that he and the Board of Regents are looking to eliminate some standardized tests.

King states in a letter obtained by The Associated Press the first target will be an 8th grade math test. The letter states grants will be provided to help districts reduce local standardized tests.

The action follows years of criticism from teachers and parents that exploded in the last two weeks over Common Core standards.
