Colonie Police say three people are suspected of targeting Capital Communications Federal Credit Union branches in Latham, Colonie and Niskayuna. They used counterfeit NYS driver’s licenses, forged pay stubs and stolen identification to apply for loans, police said.

The scam led to the larceny of $15,000 from the CapCom branch on Century Hill Road in Latham on Sept. 17 but was unsuccessful at the branches on New Karner Rd. in Colonie (Sept. 19) and Balltown Road in Niskayuna (Sept. 24). The suspects in the Colonie cases are females and the suspect in the Niskayuna case is a male, police said.

The suspects could face felony charges of Grand Larceny, Attempted Grand Larceny, Identity Theft, and Criminal Possession of Forged Instrument, police said in a statement. Anyone that recognizes them is urged to contact Colonie Police at 783-2744.
