Albany’s PC Tree Lighting

Albany’s PC Tree Lighting

This evening, the city of Albany will light a tree, but they aren’t calling it a Christmas tree – at least not in the press release. At 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings “will host a tree lighting ceremony in Academy Park…in honor of the holiday season,” the release says. Academy Park is located across Eagle Street from City Hall.

The tree lighting will also include a performance by the Albany High School Albanettes and a concert by Dr. Charles Semowich on the historic Albany City Carillon. Besides the Mayor, the 2013 Albany Tulip Queen & Court and City of Albany employees will be there. The Downtown Albany Business Improvement District is also hosting its first “Jingle Elf Quest-capades” event.
