Four area men are charged after shots were fired in Troy Tuesday night in an apartment on Lavin Court, police said.
Two from Troy: Mychael Thomas, 18, and Kenneth Koonce, 22; and two from Albany: Ty-son L. Williams, 17, and Deandre Malloy, 18, are each charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon (2nd Degree), Criminal Possession of a weapon (4th Degree) and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. They were arraigned in Troy Police Court Wednesday morning and sent to the Rensselaer County Jail without bail.
Troy Police patrols found the gold sedan with the four inside and recovered a loaded semi-automatic handgun in the area of Fifth Avenue and North Street. One of the men, Thomas, said he lived at 2416 Lavin Court, the exact address of the shots-fired incident.
Detectives are examining several scenarios at this time. Police said Troy Code Enforcement said there was an eviction notice served to the first floor apartment at 2416 Lavin Court because of “over-occupancy and prohibited changes to the apartment interior layout,” police said in a statement.
